Codebusters This event focuses on encryption and decryption of codes. This event can be practiced easily before the rules come out by working out previous test problems.
Experimental Design This event has a team of three working on creating an experiment, recording and analyzing data, and then completing a report in one hour. It does not change each year so it is perfect for early practice. The rubric for this event along with lots of tips and practice tests can be found on the SciOly Wiki page.
Write It Do It This event is about technical writing skills. Teams can practice for this event early because it does not change from year to year.
*Bungee Drop (Division C only) Teams can begin to work on this event by constructing a testing apparatus and practicing early. This event needs a lot of practice and is based on Hooke’s Law, so study of physics and spring forces.
*Metric Mastery (Division B only) Teams will estimate, measure, and convert metric units. This test can easily be prepared for in advance.
